Celebrating Two Years of Progress: NWP Signs of Hope Counseling Center

Our Nevada Women’s Philanthropy Signs of Hope Counseling Center is reaching its two-year anniversary this month and we couldn’t be happier with its progress! In the past two years the counseling center has already provided assistance to more than 950 victims of sexual assault and we have all of you to thank for both your help and continued support!

We know there is a need for this center in the community and we hope it will continue to grow in the years to come. We are happy to have solidified collaboration with the District Attorney’s office, UNLV’s Marriage & Family Therapy School and UNLV’s School of Social Work.

We have several goals for 2013:

  • We will increase our presence in the community and reach into more schools to make people more aware of what we have to offer as well as provide students with more preventative education measures.
  • We know there is a growing need for adolescent therapy and our goal is to better incorporate that into our program.
  • We are currently searching for a larger building so that we can create a specific play therapy for children and offer a trifecta of services for sexual assault – education, advocacy and therapy to all victims of all ages.

We want to give a special thanks to our staff, but also to everyone who helps victims regardless of age or gender. We wouldn’t be able to operate the center without all of the volunteer and staff support.

Let’s keep the momentum going!
